Jeremy

jeremyMy name is Jeremy Whitworth and I am the owner of Brevard Rock Gym. I grew up in the Southeast and began rock climbing when I was twelve years old. I have guided and climbed all over the country as well as in Canada and Australia. I graduated from Brevard College with a degree in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education and am a certified AMGA Single Pitch Instructor and Wilderness First Responder. I have led climbing, backpacking and paddling trips in the wilderness with pre-schoolers to senior citizens. When I am not working at the gym or guiding I play in the forest running and climbing with my two dogs and spend time at home in my workshop.

She has been managing the gym since May 2008 and is the School of Rock Day Camp Coordinator.

Dan

dan

Dan Horne has been rock climbing for over 7 years. Dan began climbing at a large gym in Maryland and has been an avid boulderer since, competinting in competitions up and down the eastern seaboard and coaching our climbing team for the past five seasons. In moving to North Carolina Dan slowly began working some projects on rope, one of his first being Glass Menagerie, an aid route that Dan, along with Peter Esland another one of our staff, climbed free in the summer of 2008.

Bill

Bill Neve, one of our climbing team coaches, started climbing in Texas 8 years ago. Bill has since climbed throughout the southeast as well as Texas' famed Hueco Tanks. Bill and his wife Christy are expecting a baby boy at the beginning of next year, 2009. “ I coach to help kids succeed and to invest in a program that I know my son can benefit from when he is old enough,” says Bill.

Marcus

Born and raised in South Georgia, Marcus first got a taste of the vertical world on a rappelling trip in the 7th grade and he knew right then that he would have a lifelong interest in the sport. Marcus has been climbing for over six years and partially based college choices on whether any climbing was close by. Along the way he earned a degree in Religion and Philosophy from Brevard College and has continued climbing primarily in the Southeast since. Marcus has been a member of the BRG family since 2004.

Peter

Climbing took hold of Peter in 1999, and quickly grew into his life's passion. The journey has taken him from the slopes of Denali, to the Granite Monoliths of Yosemite to the bolted limestone of Europe. Even so, Peter considers North Carolina as home to his climbing roots and the state's many haunts are among his favorite destinations; nowhere more so than Looking Glass Rock. Peter relocated to Western North Carolina in 2006 and has been guiding for BRG Mountain Guides ever since.
